Slow Computer

Does your computer seem slow, and when you start it up is it taking ages to "wake up" heres a little tip to speed it up just a little. Go to Start and Run and type msconfig, this will open up the System Configuration Utility. Then click on the Startup tab and look for any programs that you dont need to run when your computer starts up. Also take a look in the startup folder, to get to the startup folder, Click on Start, then All Programs, Then Startup, delete any uneeded items out of there.

Look for things like Reader (Adobe Reader) It will open when u opena  pdf document so it doesnt need to load at startup. Another common one is MSN or Windows Live Messenger, this can cause issues. Then simply untick the square box next to the program and press Appy and Ok, and restart, see if there is any difference. Also another common thing that can cause your system to be slow is Antivirus Software.Depending on the type of Anvtivirus Software you have you can configure it to automatically scan for viruses, or it may automatically configure itself, or it might automatically configure itself to do an update, these are all things can can slow your system down. With Mcafee you can go into the Mcafee control panel and change the time its set to run,if you manage to find the correct control panel look for things like "run at startup" and configure it to run some other convienient time, this should help.

There are other things to look for, a way to find the cause of your system being slow is in windows task manager, press CTRL + ALT + Delete which will normally open windows task manager or click windows task manager by right clicking the task bar and clicking "Task Manager", click on processes tab, this will show you whats running, check the memory and CPU usage. is something is using 100% of your processor or seems to be using more memory than normal, then simply right click and choose "End Task".
